My path into design wasn’t conventional.

Back in 2023, after scoring 93% in 12th, I chose BCA mainly because I always loved computers and it felt like the logical next step (safe and secure). But during my first sem, I realised: this isn’t it. Coding wasn’t lighting me up, and I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life doing something that didn’t excite me.

So, after coming home from college every day, I started exploring different things to find where my real passion lies. I learnt about dropshipping, affiliate marketing, trading, game development, 3D modelling — you name it. And it wasn’t just about watching a few videos; I actually tried them seriously.

I created Instagram theme pages and posted content for affiliate marketing. I opened an account on Groww but never invested because I was scared of losses. I learnt Unity and built games like Flappy Bird, Pong, and an open-world game. I even tried Blender and made a few 3D models. All of it taught me something, but none of it felt like my thing.

Then one day, I randomly stumbled upon a YouTube video about UX/UI design, and everything changed.
That first video led to another… and then another. I was hooked. I loved how UX blended creativity, logic, problem-solving, and empathy. And the more I learnt, the more I realised something crazy: I had already been doing these things all my life.

As a kid, I used to do arts and crafts with my sister and sketch a lot — that’s creativity.
With my cousins, we used to collect techy parts like motors, lights, and gears to build things: windmills, lamps, mini guitars, skateboards — all from scrap.
Honestly, these ideas came from two of my favourite childhood shows: Art Attack and Engineering This. I loved trying those DIYs in real life.

In 10th grade, I started a YouTube channel that hit 17K+ subscribers in just 8 months. I switched niches several times: tech, arts and crafts, modded APKs, and gaming. One niche that stood out was where I’d take apps like Kinemaster, redesign the interface using PixelLab, and replace the assets using APK Editor to create modded versions like Kinemaster Halloween, Ice Age, and Among Us mod APKs, which I then shared on YouTube. Looking back now, that was actually UI design.

And when my dad had issues with his phone, I’d always be the one to fix them — by searching, learning, and solving.

So creativity, tech tinkering, interface redesign, and problem-solving had always been there. UX just gave it a name.

From there, I went all in. I started self-learning, attending meetups, talking to people in the industry, and practicing every single day.
While still in college, I landed an internship at a Malta-based startup, and that gave me real clarity.

That was the turning point.

I dropped out of BCA after my first year, not because I gave up, but because I had found what I truly wanted to do. Spending hours on something I didn’t enjoy didn’t make sense anymore.
But still, I knew the value of formal education, especially since I want to pursue a Master’s in HCI someday, and that’s not possible without a degree.

That’s why I enrolled in an online BBA from Manipal University Jaipur.
Why BBA? Because, at the end of the day, I’m designing for users and for business goals.
As a designer, having business knowledge is super useful — whether it’s for personal growth, doing my own startup, working at a company, or collaborating with stakeholders.
And one of the biggest reasons for choosing an online degree was the freedom it gives me to work full-time in what I genuinely love — Product design — while only needing to dedicate a few hours during weekends for my classes.

Now, I’m designing real products, working with real teams, and constantly pushing myself to grow, while also gaining a solid understanding of business.
I mean, what’s better than this as a 20-year-old?
Following my passion, growing every day, and continuing my education side by side.

It hasn’t been a straight path,
but it’s my path.
Full of detours, risks, lessons, and growth.

And this is just the beginning.
